Making wedding photography easier (and more fun!) with tips on how to own your day!

Hi, I'm Ashley Brunell

Welcome Friends

This week is all about laundry and the dreaded paper piles.

Almost no matter what I do…we have a TON of paper. Anyone else? Also, the laundry is always behind. I don’t want to leave a mess for Isaac when I am gone. So, finally getting a schedule started AND followed!

Living in an apartment, I have found that it’s super easy to get caught up on cleaning, but it’s just as easy to get so behind!

Now that my kids are old enough to understand work = money, they’re able to help, willingly. Oliver, my 7 year old, is helping with moving laundry around, and loading and unloading the dishwasher (with help). Abigail, my 9 year old, is old enough to walk the dogs. Not only do they get money, but it keeps me accountable. Every morning and after school, Oliver asks to do the dishes. I need someone on top of things!

Steps to getting organized:

  1. Do a load of laundry every night. If I put it in during shower time, it is done and folded before bed 🙂 . No pile up at the end of the week, and people have socks!
  2. Oliver helps load the dishes in the morning, so it runs during drop off. Being in an apartment, you can hear everything, this way, no one is annoyed with the sound.
  3. I clean the kitchen after I drop off, so it’s ready for after school snack and dinner. I am not picky about having a clean kitchen at night. Oliver really likes helping, and this just works for us right now.
  4. Oliver helps unload the dishwasher after school, so we have everything clean for dinner.

Now to keep this going until I leave…
