As soon as we pulled up, we were on our phones checking the radar. It seemed like the Portland, OR weather had followed us to the midwest. As we got out of the car, it was pouring, but we all hoped for the best. Surely these pop-up thunderstorms would let up, right? As I was working on shooting details, the rain seemed to stop, but as we walked across the street for the first look, it started to rain again. Kristen and Jason were rockstars and didn’t complain once about the weather (well, not the rain, but the humidity was a whole other story). It was her dream wedding day. She has worked so hard to plan this celebration and luckily, their ceremony was supposed to be inside!
I feel like the weather on Jason and Kristen’s wedding day was such a representation of life. There will be storms but the sun always comes back out again. The longer I photograph weddings, the more I fully understand the beauty of this celebration. It’s not just getting a new last name or a new title. It’s obviously not about photos (even though I think they are a TOP priority!). It’s about making a covenant to do life side by side with the person you love the most…. no matter how hard it gets. I’m so excited to see Jason and Kristen start on this new adventure together as husband and wife. Their beautiful day was just a small piece of all of the beautiful adventures they will experience as husband and wife!
We love this sweet family and we loved being the ones capturing the beginning of their story!! Enjoy my favorites from their beautiful, downtown Kansas City wedding!
