Today is a VERY special day in our family. It is the day my life changed for the better. It is the day my water broke (I thought I was peeing my pants…), I went shopping, went to lunch, than had emergency surgery. Abigail was born. On Super Bowl Sunday in 2010. She came into the world over a month early and backwards. She was taken to the NICU right away. She took out her own IV and was able to come home on Valentine’s Day. Best feeling ever! You can read more about her stay and what happened afterwards here.
She was the first grandchild, on both sides, first great-grandchild, AND first great-great-grandchild. Yes, my great-grandmother is still alive, and it’s wonderful! She is still the only granddaughter, and she’s hoping there will be another girl born, but she might have to wait awhile for that.
In 2012, Abigail became a Big Sister. She is caring, gentle (sometimes), and loves her brother. My wish for them, is that they grow closer as they get older.
Her fighting spirit from the NICU has not left her as she becomes her own person. She has stated that she doesn’t want kids (been saying this since she was 5…three years later, I now believe her), she might get married, and she’s living with me forever. She wants to be a chef or a doctor and work with her Nana.
Abigail loves art and to sing and dance. Her favorite things about school is math and science. Abigail really wants to come with me to weddings and help assist. When I find that right bride, I might just do it. She does help me edit and pick photos.
Happy 8th Birthday to the sweetest, hardheaded, daughter, sister, and friend! It has been AMAZING watching you grow. I am honored to be given the job as your mother.
